Commodity trading and processing

Commodity trading

DLA Agro’s main objective is to support its member companies through procurement and trading of commodities such as feed ingredients, energy products, plastic and twines. These products are used for further processing and/or resale by DLA Agro members.

Increased internationalisation of the DLA Agro members in recent years - especially in the Baltic Region - has generated synergies within procurement with much bigger volumes and more locations than before. This can be seen in procurement at competitive prices which ultimately means lower sales prices.

In addition to offering the agricultural industry a highly varied quality range DLA Agro provides its members with a high level of supply security along with extensive expertise within each product area.

Processing

Besides trading on behalf of its members DLA Agro also coordinate processing of selected crops and raw materials to the benefit of its members.

The Scanola company has rapeseed oil mills in Denmark, Estonia and Latvia with a total production capacity of 450,000 ton. The oil mills produce rapeseed cakes, oil for human consumption and for the biodisel industry and the DLA members supply Scanola with rapeseed and sell the rapeseed cakes to farmers.

Scanfedt A/S produces vegetable oils and fats which the DLA Agro members sell to their customers who uses it in feed mixes. Scanfedt, which is also a subsidiary to Danish Agro and Vestjyllands Andel, has a total production capacity of 26,600 m3.
